Addressing journalists in Lagos, Utomi criticized the prevailing political landscape, denouncing existing parties as undemocratic and ineffectual in addressing the nation’s pressing issues.

“Political parties and politicians of these parties cannot save Nigeria now. It is clear,” Utomi asserted, underscoring the urgent need for transformative change in Nigeria’s political sphere.

Utomi outlined the composition of the envisaged mega party, which would merge two distinct groups: the ‘mea culpa’ cohort, comprising former politicians who acknowledge past shortcomings and are committed to national revitalization, and the ‘new value’ cohort, comprised of forward-thinking individuals from diverse political backgrounds. Additionally, he noted the involvement of elder statesmen in the initiative.

“The nature and structure of our politics is such that even good people, when they enter these existing political parties, will play to their interests,” Utomi explained, emphasizing the imperative of a movement that prioritizes values such as integrity, work ethics, and respect for human dignity.

Utomi disclosed his upcoming engagements, including strategic meetings in Lagos and Abuja, culminating in a press conference to formally announce the mega party’s inception. He expressed optimism about making significant headway in these discussions before returning to the U.S.

This initiative builds upon Utomi’s prior dialogues with opposition party leaders and presidential candidates from the 2023 elections, aiming to forge a unified front against the APC and foster a new political ethos rooted in public service and national development.
