Police Rescue Abducted Victim In Oyo, K!ll Three Suspected Kidnappers

According to Ireporter Online, operatives of the Oyo State Police Command, working alongside local hunters and other security agencies, have neutralised three suspected kidnappers during a coordinated rescue operation in Otu, Oke-Ogun area of the state. The operation also led to the rescue of an abducted man identified as Mosudi Gbolagade, aged about 50.

The police disclosed that the mission was triggered by a distress call received on May 25, 2026, from local hunters who were reportedly ambushed by armed suspects while on a hunting expedition in the area. Although the initial attack involved sporadic gunfire from the suspected kidnappers, no casualties were recorded at that stage.

Acting on the intelligence, a combined response team of police operatives, hunters, and other security stakeholders was swiftly deployed to the scene. On arrival, the team reportedly came under heavy fire from the suspects, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire.

The command stated that the criminals were eventually overwhelmed through what it described as superior tactical coordination, leading to the neutralisation of three suspects. The operation also secured the rescue of Gbolagade, who was said to have been abducted from Okaka and held in the Otu axis. He reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during the incident and was immediately taken for medical attention.

One of the participating local hunters also sustained gunshot injuries and is currently receiving treatment in a medical facility. Security operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle without ammunition, a single-barrel gun, and a machete from the scene, which have been taken as exhibits.

The Oyo State Police Command commended the bravery and collaboration of the local hunters and reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against criminal elements across the state, urging residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.
