Political Sh*ck As Former Minister Resigns From PDP
According to Ireporter Online, a former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State.
The development was confirmed in a resignation letter dated February 9, 2026, addressed to the chairman of his PDP ward in Shangui, Hong Local Government Area of the state.
In the letter, Dr. Hong stated that his decision to withdraw from the party was a personal one, reached after extensive consultations with members of his family, trusted associates and political allies.
He explained that the move followed a period of deep reflection on Nigeria’s prevailing political climate as well as a careful reassessment of his own political aspirations and future direction.
Based on these reflections, the former minister said he found it necessary to bring his membership of the party to an end.
Dr. Hong, however, expressed gratitude to the PDP for its contributions to his political growth and public service career. He acknowledged the support he enjoyed from the party at the ward, local government and state levels, noting that these structures provided him with opportunities to serve the nation.
While announcing his exit, he emphasized that he remains appreciative of the role the party played in shaping his political journey and affirmed that he would always cherish the experiences and opportunities he gained during his time in the PDP.
