Reacting to the incident, Bellingham, speaking briefly to reporters in Munich while heading to the team bus, dismissed the decision in strong terms, saying “a joke” and insisting it was “impossible that it is red,” as he shook his head in visible frustration.

Tensions were also evident across the Madrid camp, with defender Antonio Rudiger expressing anger while avoiding direct criticism of the officiating, stating that he would prefer not to comment on the referee but questioning the decision.
