Real Reason Tinubu Assigned Me Ministry Of Solid Minerals – Alake
Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, has revealed that he was appointed to this portfolio by President Bola Tinubu due to the sector’s critical role in economic revitalization.
Alake shared this information on Monday during a press briefing following the inauguration of 45 new ministers at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The minister clarified that he personally requested the President to assign him to the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, which differs from the general assumption that he would be given a specific portfolio.

He explained that the widely discussed portfolio that was speculated for him was not exclusively designed for him. Alake referred to his earlier role as Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication, and Strategy since the start of the administration.
Alake emphasized the importance of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, highlighting its sensitivity in the context of economic renewal. He stated that the administration aims to rejuvenate this sector and provide it with a fresh perspective.
He added that the President selected him for this position based on trust and confidence in his ability to deliver effectively.
Before the President formally assigned ministries to his designated ministers, speculations were circulating that Alake might be appointed to the Information and Communication Ministry.
