Relief As Troops Free Two Kidnap Victims In Kwara
Troops of the Nigerian Army operating under the Joint Task Force North Central, Operation Savannah Shield, have successfully rescued two kidnap victims during a clearance operation in Kwara State as security forces intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks across the region.
According to Ireporter Online, the rescued individuals were identified as 42-year-old Temitope Samuel and 40-year-old Mohammed Sani. They were recovered along the Gidan Dogo Ekaa axis during an ongoing military campaign targeting kidnappers and other criminal elements in the North-Central zone.
Military authorities disclosed that the operation was carried out on June 3 by troops stationed at Patrol Base Babasango while conducting an aggressive fighting patrol towards Gidan Dogo Ekaa. During the exercise, the soldiers encountered the victims, who had managed to escape from their abductors, and immediately secured them.
The Army described the rescue as a testament to the effectiveness of its ongoing operations, noting that the victims were promptly moved to Patrol Base Babanla, where they are receiving medical treatment, psychological care and other necessary support services.
Security officials also confirmed that arrangements are underway to reunite the rescued victims with their families after completing the required procedures and ensuring their well-being.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at combating kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes threatening communities across the North-Central region. It also appealed to members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to strengthen ongoing efforts against criminal activities.
Operation Savannah Shield remains one of the Nigerian Army’s key security initiatives designed to curb kidnapping, banditry and related crimes in parts of the North-Central zone.
