PFN Clears Air: No Link Between National Prayer Programme And Adeboye, RCCG
According to Ireporter Online, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has firmly denied allegations suggesting that its recent nationwide prayer programme was connected to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) or its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
The fellowship described the claims as false, misleading, and without any factual basis, stressing that the initiative was conceived, approved, and executed solely under PFN’s authority.
In a statement issued by its National Secretary, Bishop David Bakare, PFN clarified that it was inappropriate to associate the programme with RCCG or Pastor Adeboye, noting that neither the church nor its leadership initiated any protest or external directive linked to the exercise. He explained that all participating churches, including the Redeemed Christian Church of God, acted strictly in line with PFN’s directive as members of the wider Pentecostal community.
Bakare further emphasized that operational decisions, instructions, and coordination of the programme originated entirely from PFN leadership without external interference. He added that the final day of the programme coincided with Pentecost Sunday, a global Christian observance marked by believers across denominations worldwide, and not an RCCG-specific event.
He also revealed that an earlier proposal involving public processions and placard displays was suspended following security advisories. Despite this adjustment, PFN maintained that the exercise was successful and widely embraced, mobilising prayers for national unity and progress.
The fellowship urged Nigerians to disregard misinformation and avoid narratives capable of creating division, while encouraging unity, peace, and continued prayers for the nation.
