the pension system.

During a courtesy visit to PenCom in Abuja, the BPSR Director-General, Dasuki Arabi, highlighted the importance of the reform, noting the inefficiencies of the old pension scheme. The introduction of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in 2004, which ensures joint contributions from employees and employers, was cited as a key step in addressing pension arrears and delays.

PenCom DG, Omolola Oloworaran, emphasized the need for technological integration to streamline processes, reducing bureaucratic hurdles in transitioning retirees from salaries to pensions.

She also advocated for enhanced pre-retirement training, revealing alarming statistics that over 40% of public servants die shortly after retirement. Oloworaran stressed the importance of equipping workers with skills to ensure a seamless transition into post-service life.
