See The Govt Officials Tinubu Stopped From Travelling

President Bola Tinubu has implemented a directive prohibiting government officials without verifiable evidence of direct involvement in this year’s United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) from embarking on trips to New York.

The presidential edict, announced on Monday by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, is part of a broader initiative to curtail government expenditure in Nigeria.

In line with the directive, the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to halt the processing of visas for government officials falling under this category.

To ensure adherence, the statement emphasized that the U.S. Mission in Nigeria must adhere to strict guidelines for official visa processing, while Nigeria’s Permanent Mission in New York is also tasked with preventing the accreditation of government officials not listed on the protocol lists endorsed by the appropriate authority.

In addition, all federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have been tasked with overseeing the delegation approved for UNGA, with a strict limit on the number of aides and supporting staff allowed to participate in the event.

Any instances of excesses or irregularities will be rectified during the final verification process, as the President asserts that government officials and expenditures must align with the prudent and sacrificial ethos embraced by conscientious Nigerians across the nation.

This directive comes ahead of a scheduled meeting between President Tinubu and United States President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UNGA, slated to take place from September 12 to 30, 2023.
