Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, addressed journalists after plenary, refuting claims of budget padding raised by Senator Abdul Ningi.
Adaramodu emphasized that the N3 trillion allocation was for statutory transfers to government agencies on first-line charges, categorically denying any instances of budget padding.
He reiterated the Senate’s commitment to upholding national interests and highlighted the importance of transparency in budgetary processes.
The agencies benefiting from the statutory transfers include the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Public Complaints Commission, National Judicial Council, North East Development Commission (NEDC), and Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), among others.
