Shockwave In Southeast Politics As Ohanaeze Endorses Umahi’s Support For Tinubu
The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has publicly declared its support for Minister of Works, David Umahi, following criticisms from some quarters over his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
According to IREPORTER ONLINE, the apex Igbo socio-political organisation emphasised that Umahi has been entrusted with the responsibility of conveying the collective position of Ndigbo and their leaders regarding the president’s projects and policies.
According to IREPORTER ONLINE, Ohanaeze praised President Tinubu for consistently demonstrating commitment to addressing the challenges confronting the Southeast region and the Igbo nation at large.
In a statement signed by the group’s Deputy President General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, it was revealed that Ndigbo have collectively mandated Umahi to relay their strong endorsement of Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, with continued support for his administration until 2031.
The group highlighted various initiatives and projects executed by the Tinubu government in the region, stressing that their backing comes with critical demands to address urgent regional needs.
Isiguzoro urged opposition parties and other Igbo organisations to cease media attacks on Umahi and avoid interfering in the internal affairs of the Igbo people.
According to IREPORTER ONLINE, Ohanaeze reaffirmed that the Southeast deeply appreciates the president’s investments and policies favouring the region, and in return, they are committed to reciprocating these gestures ahead of the 2027 polls.
The group concluded by warning that any attempts to derail the region’s progress will not be tolerated, pledging unity in their support for Senator Umahi and the Tinubu administration as they work toward a brighter future for Ndigbo.
