Sports Minister Relocates His Office To MKO Abiola National Stadium, Gives Reason

The Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, has clarified his decision to relocate his office to the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

He stated that his intention is to personally oversee the activities at the sports center and ensure that everything is properly organized.

Enoh explained that during his tour of the MKO Abiola Stadium, he made the decision to have his office at the stadium instead of the ministry’s Secretariat.

He emphasized that the stadium houses 90% of the sports departments, federations’ secretariats, athletes, and footballers.

Therefore, having his office at the stadium would facilitate coordination and enable him to keep a close watch on sports-related activities.

He also mentioned that he issued a memo to the permanent secretary requesting that the remaining sports departments be located at the stadium.

Enoh’s primary focus as the Minister of Sports Development is to promote sports development and utilize sports for the country’s overall development.

He emphasized the importance of grassroots development, improving infrastructure, and providing opportunities for talents in areas with fewer opportunities.

Enoh mentioned his goal to establish facilities like basketball courts in local communities to nurture talents from disadvantaged backgrounds.

He stressed the significance of tangible achievements in social inclusion and sports development during his tenure.

As part of his ongoing efforts to assess major sports facilities in the country, Enoh also inspected the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, where he examined various sports facilities and infrastructure.
