Speaking at the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria Summit 1.0, themed “The Rain of Transformation Is Upon Us: CEOs Arise”, in Ibadan on Saturday, Makinde highlighted key initiatives his government has undertaken. His remarks, shared by his Media Aide, Sulaimon Olarenwaju, on Sunday, outlined the establishment of a state innovation hub and the integration of digital tools in tertiary education.

Makinde said:

“We are creating an enabling environment for companies like RAIN to thrive. For instance, the Seyi Makinde Innovation and Technology Hub (SMITH) trains students in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, we’ve integrated digital tools in our tertiary institutions to unify student information and management systems. Partnerships with companies like RAIN will extend these initiatives for wider reach across Oyo State.”

He also noted that Oyo State has adopted the Nigeria Communications Commission’s (NCC) recommended charges for linear meters to reduce business costs:

“A year ago, we aligned with the NCC’s suggested rate of ₦145 per linear meter, making it easier for businesses delivering infrastructure.”

At the summit, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, highlighted Africa’s role in shaping the future workforce, with Nigeria leading the charge:

“We must continue to invest in the potential of our people, wherever they may be.”
