In a statement on Tuesday, PDP spokesperson Kennedy Peretei alleged that the APC is planning to compromise the integrity of the election. Peretei claimed that Ade Adetimehin, the APC chair in Ondo, submitted a list of APC loyalists to serve as ad hoc officials for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a move he says threatens INEC’s impartiality.

Peretei stated, “This alleged attempt to fill INEC with party affiliates undermines democratic principles and the people’s right to a fair election.”

The APC, however, dismissed the allegations, calling them politically motivated. APC spokesperson Alex Kalejaye countered that the party’s focus is solely on securing a fair victory through proper channels, having campaigned extensively across Ondo’s 18 local government areas. Kalejaye said, “We have no reason to engage in any improper conduct; we’ve connected with the people and are confident in their support.”

Kalejaye also highlighted ongoing development projects as evidence of the APC’s commitment to the state, adding that the party’s final rally would reinforce their message of continuity.
