Tinubu Set To Inaugurate Cabinet On August 21, Ending 75-Day Wait

In a significant development, President Bola Tinubu is poised to finally assemble his cabinet on Monday, August 21, 2023, after a span of over 75 days without one.

Reports suggest that the President’s intent is to address the nation’s social and economic challenges head-on by forming a complete team of Ministers to steer his government.

The delay in forming the cabinet had stirred concerns among Nigerians, especially considering that the Senate had confirmed 45 out of the 48 ministerial nominees sent by President Tinubu the week prior.

Anticipation had built among Minister-designates, key figures within the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the business community for the swearing-in ceremony, with expectations of a forthcoming Federal Executive Council meeting.

Sources close to the Presidential Villa have indicated that while the President’s schedule for the week does not include the Ministers’ swearing-in, arrangements are being finalized by the Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Government of the Federation for a cabinet inauguration next week.

This ceremony will coincide with a Ministerial retreat, where the new Ministers are expected to be inducted and commit to faithfully implementing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Since taking office, President Tinubu has implemented significant policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of foreign exchange markets. These measures have brought economic challenges, leading to increased living costs and placing pressure on the citizens.
