Effective immediately, recruitment for individuals with a history of gender dysphoria has been paused, and any unscheduled or planned gender-affirming medical procedures for service members are also on hold.

The statement emphasized that while transgender individuals who have served in the past will be treated with respect and dignity, the new policy aims to reshape military practices in line with the recent directives of the U.S. government.

This change follows a series of executive orders signed by President Donald Trump, which include reinstating troops discharged for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine and reversing policies that had allowed transgender service members during the Biden administration.

President Trump first banned transgender people from the military in 2017. However, President Biden lifted the ban in 2021.
