USA Sole Bidder For 2031 Women World Cup, UK Poised To Host 2035 Tournament – Infantino
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced that the United States is the sole bidder to host the 2031 Women’s World Cup, while the United Kingdom is expected to host the 2035 edition. The announcement was made during the UEFA Congress held in Belgrade.
Infantino noted that the bid for the 2031 tournament comes from the United States, with the possibility of collaboration with other CONCACAF members. As for the 2035 tournament, it will be hosted by Europe, specifically the home nations…READ MORE…
Additionally, FIFA has plans to expand the number of teams participating in the Women’s World Cup from 32 to 48 starting from the 2031 edition.
The announcement follows a statement from the football associations of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, who recently expressed interest in jointly hosting the 2035 tournament.
In March, FIFA clarified that only bids from Europe or Africa would be considered for the 2035 event, with the host nation expected to be confirmed at the FIFA Congress in the second quarter of 2026.
The United States, which is already set to co-host the 2026 Men’s World Cup with Mexico and Canada, confirmed earlier this year its intention to bid for the 2031 Women’s World Cup.
Initially, South Africa and Morocco were also contenders, but Infantino’s recent remarks indicate that they are no longer in the race.
The next Women’s World Cup is scheduled to be held in Brazil in 2027.
