Violence-Erupts In Omuma LGA, Rivers State: Policeman And OSPAC Member Feared-Dead (Videos)

Omuma Local Government Area in Rivers State has witnessed a tragic incident as a policeman and a member of the Omuma Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC) are feared dead.

This unsettling event occurred amidst escalating tension and protests across all 23 local government areas in the state, following the expiration of elected chairmen and ward councillors’ tenures.

The violence in Omuma LGA is part of a broader wave of unrest sweeping through Rivers State, with multiple reports of shootings reported in various areas including Port Harcourt City LGA, Obio/Akpor, Emohua, Eleme, and Khana, reportedly carried out by unidentified assailants.

According to a source in Omuma speaking with Vanguard, the conflict escalated when policemen attached to a local politician allegedly opened fire on OSPAC vigilante members at the Omuma council secretariat. This led to a deadly exchange where casualties were reported on both sides.

Local reports as of noon confirmed the deaths of two individuals in the aftermath of the shootings. However, official confirmation from police authorities was awaited as investigations continued into the incident.
