Why Atiku, Peter Obi’s Petitions Against Tinubu’s Election Will Be Easy For Court To Dispense – Adebayo
Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, has dismissed the petitions challenging the election outcome, stating that they lack credibility and proper evidence.
According to Adebayo, the petitions were poorly presented and comically argued.
After the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, declared Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the February 25 presidential election, five political parties and their candidates filed petitions challenging the results at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) in Abuja. They alleged that Tinubu was not qualified to contest and that INEC violated the Constitution and Electoral Act during the election.

Some of these petitions have already been dismissed by the court. Adebayo stated that these 2023 election petitions are the easiest to handle since 1999, suggesting that there won’t be any complicated legal maneuvers. He advised opposition parties to focus on the 2027 elections instead.
Adebayo Tweeted: “This year’s election petitions are the easiest to dispense with since 1999. No need for any judicial acrobatics. They fall within clear jurisprudence and well established precedents. Obi/ Labour vs Tinubu/INEC will be dismissed in limine; ditto for Atiku/PDP vs Tinubu/INEC.
“These petitions lack merit and are poorly presented, abysmally unproved and comically argued. APM’s half-hearted petition is a pre-election mongrel with no pedigree in electoral litigation. The judges are not to blame. All opposition elements should prepare for 2027 elections,” the statement added
