Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, on Wednesday inaugurated two newly appointed commissioners and a member of the Judicial Service Commission, charging them to view their appointments as responsibilities rather than rewards.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Maiduguri, with Chief Judge of Borno State, Justice Kashim Zannah, administering the oaths of office and allegiance.

The new commissioners are Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan, while Alhaji Abba Sadiq was inducted as a member of the Judicial Service Commission.

In his address, Governor Zulum emphasized that the appointments were strictly based on merit, citing the officials’ integrity and competence as key selection criteria. He reminded them that the people of Borno expect excellence, not mediocrity.

“This is not a reward. It is a call to duty,” Zulum declared.
“You must align your work with our 25-Year Development Plan and 10-Year Strategic Transformation Initiative. Your performance will be evaluated against clear benchmarks.”

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the new appointees and urged them to embrace accountability, strategic planning, and dedication.

Zulum also extended his gratitude to the state legislature and judiciary for their collaboration and dedication to good governance, justice, and institutional trust.

Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Bukar Tijani, described the appointments as part of ongoing efforts to deepen development and governance reforms in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Engr. Habib expressed appreciation for the trust placed in them and pledged unwavering dedication to the administration’s vision.
