JUST IN: Court Sacks Deputy Speaker (DETAILS)

Hon Aderoboye Samuel, representing Odigbo Constituency II, was removed as Deputy Speaker of the Ondo Assembly by an Ondo High Court sitting in Akure.

It directed that Hon Iroju Ogundeji be immediately reinstated as the Assembly’s Deputy Speaker.

The order came after the court overturned Ogundeji’s impeachment as Deputy Speaker in 2020.

Ogundeji, the Odigbo Constituency 2 representative, was impeached for alleged gross misconduct.

He was suspended in July 2020, and his attempts to resume plenary following court orders were unsuccessful.

Samuel was elected as the new Deputy Speaker, representing Odigbo Constituency II.

The court, which asked the Assembly to immediately reinstate Ogundeji as Deputy Speaker, ordered Aderoboye to cease acting in that capacity.
