Garba, who previously held the position of President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for two terms, served as Commissioner for various portfolios, including Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, as well as Information and Internal Affairs, from 2015 to 2023 in Kano State.

He also held the role of Federal Commissioner at the Fiscal Responsibility Commission from 2011 to 2014 and was a key figure in the Federal Government Subsidy and Reinvestment and Empowerment Committee (SURE-P) between 2012 to 2015.

Garba’s extensive professional background includes being Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in 1993 and to the Deputy Governor of Kano state from 1999 to 2003.

With academic achievements including a Bachelor’s degree in History/Political Science and a Master’s in Development Studies from Bayero University, Kano, as well as a National Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from the International Institute of Journalism, Garba has established himself as a well-rounded professional.

Notably, he also played a significant role as the spokesperson for the Gawuna/Garo campaign organization during the 2023 general elections.

A statement released by Bala Ibrahim, APC’s Director of Publicity, confirmed Garba’s appointment as Chief of Staff, highlighting his extensive experience and accomplishments in various capacities.
