Tinubu Considers Review Of Salaries For Judicial Officers
On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu assured that his administration would conduct a thorough review of the compensation structures for judicial officers across the country.
During a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), led by Barrister Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), President Tinubu emphasized that combating corruption requires a comprehensive evaluation of the salaries and benefits of judicial officers.
This issue holds particular significance for him due to his notable achievements in reforming the justice system in Lagos State.

In response to a request from the NBA president, President Tinubu stated, “We must address the remuneration review if we genuinely aim to combat corruption within the Judiciary. We will examine the costs and consequences associated with it.”
President Tinubu also acknowledged the urgency of addressing current vacancies within the Supreme Court. He affirmed that these vacancies represent obligations that need to be addressed based on recommendations from the National Judicial Council (NJC).
“Many of them are presently on leave, and upon their return, we will assess the situation and proceed to fill the vacancies. It’s an essential obligation that we will fulfill,” he affirmed.
Expressing gratitude for being invited to inaugurate the association’s 63rd Annual General Conference in Abuja over the weekend, President Tinubu acknowledged the privilege of having numerous lawyers as close aides, including Chief of Staff Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, State Chief of Protocol Amb. Victor Adeleke, and Principal Private Secretary Prince Damilotun Aderemi.
In his response, the NBA President commended President Tinubu for appointing highly esteemed members of the legal profession to his cabinet, including Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
