BREAKING: Tribunal Sacks Four PDP National Assembly Members (DETAILS)

Tribunal1 1424x802 1

The elections petition tribunal for the national and state houses of assembly, situated in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, has invalidated the elections of four Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of the National Assembly due to a lack of organizational structure.

In a unanimous decision by the three-member panel, Justice Mohammed Tukur declared that the PDP candidates in the state were improperly nominated because there was no established party structure in the state.

The legislators affected by the judgment are Peter Gyendeng representing Barkin-Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency; Musa Bagos representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency; Beni Lar representing Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency, and Napoleon Bali representing Plateau South Senatorial District.

As a result of the tribunal’s ruling, Fom Dalyop and Ajang Alfred Iliya of the Labour Party have been declared beneficiaries for Barkin-Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency and Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency respectively. Vincent Bulus Venman of the APC has been affirmed for Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency, and Simon Lalong for the Plateau South Senatorial Seat.

The PDP in the state has expressed discontent with the panel’s decision, which contradicts an earlier ruling from a different panel handling national assembly elections petitions.

However, legal representatives for both the petitioners and respondents hold differing opinions regarding the PDP’s stance on the panel’s rulings regarding the petitions.
