List Of States With Highest And Lowest IGR In Nigeria Emerge
In 2022, the Lagos State government topped the list of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) among the 36 states in Nigeria, recording N651 billion.

This amount exceeded the combined IGR of 30 other states, according to the 2022 Annual States Viability Index (ASVI) report released by the Economic Confidential Magazine in Abuja.
The report revealed that the total IGR for all 36 states amounted to N1.8 trillion, compared to the N5.72 trillion received from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) during the same period. The IGR for all states slightly increased from N1.76 trillion in 2021 to N1.8 trillion in 2022.

Lagos maintained its top position in IGR, generating N651 billion, surpassing its Federal Allocation of N370 billion in 2022. Ogun State ranked second with an IGR of N120 billion compared to a Federal Allocation of N113 billion, followed by Rivers with N172 billion IGR and a Federal Allocation of N363 billion.
Other high-performing states included Kaduna, Kwara, and Oyo. Meanwhile, six states were identified as heavily dependent on federal allocations, with their IGR in 2022 constituting less than 10 percent of their receipts from the Federation Account. These states are Bayelsa, Katsina, Akwa Ibom, Taraba, Yobe, and Kebbi.
