FULL LIST Of Resolutions Reached Emerge As Wike, Fubara Reach Truce After Meeting With Tinubu

Following weeks of intense political turmoil in Rivers State, the key political figures in the oil-rich South-South region reached a resolution on Monday during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Villa in Abuja.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara, alongside his predecessor, Nyesom Wike (now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory), attended the meeting. Other participants included former Rivers governor Peter Odili and several traditional rulers from the state. Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, were also present.

Over the past three months, Rivers State has been embroiled in a series of dramatic events, with the state House of Assembly becoming a battleground. The conflict between Wike and Fubara led to a split among lawmakers, with 27 of them defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a party where Wike currently holds a ministerial position in the central government.

The feud resulted in parallel legislative sessions, an impeachment plot against the governor, the demolition of the Assembly complex, and numerous resignations of pro-Wike commissioners in Fubara’s cabinet. While the President and elder statesmen had previously intervened in October, the crisis escalated into a full-blown confrontation.

Following Monday’s meeting, the conflicting parties reached a consensus, stipulating that all legal actions initiated by Fubara and his team in the courts should be promptly withdrawn.

The agreement, endorsed by Fubara, Wike, Amaewhule, and other key figures involved in the crisis, was officially documented and made available to Channels Television. National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu also affixed his signature to the document.

Additionally, the Wike faction committed to immediately discontinuing all impeachment proceedings initiated against the governor by the Rivers State House of Assembly.

As part of the resolution, both parties acknowledged the leadership of Martin Amaewhule in the Rivers State House of Assembly, rejecting the authority of Edison Ehie. Furthermore, there was mutual agreement to recognize Amaewhule and his 26 associates who recently transitioned from the PDP to the APC.
