Abiodun Appoints Six New Permanent Secretaries To Strengthen Ogun Civil Service

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the appointment of six new Permanent Secretaries as part of efforts to reinforce the leadership structure of the state’s civil service and sustain ongoing public sector reforms.

According to an official statement issued by the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. I.O. Saka, on Friday, the appointments were made to fill vacancies created by the retirement of former Permanent Secretaries.

The newly appointed officials are Dr. Solomon Oluseyi Sokunbi, Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye Akinwunmi, Mr. Adedeji Akanbi Sowunmi, Mr. Olumide Olusola Ogunbo, Mr. Dolamu Isaiah Idowu-Agida and Tpl. Musinat Abiola Ayodele.

The Head of Service stated that the appointments were made in accordance with Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), following a selection process that emphasized merit, professionalism and inclusiveness.

He disclosed that all six appointees successfully completed the Ogun State Pipeline Leadership Development Programme, a mandatory requirement for officers seeking appointment into the state’s highest public service leadership positions, including the office of Permanent Secretary.

Before their elevation, Dr. Sokunbi served as Director of Hospital Services in the Ministry of Health, while Mr. Akinwunmi was Director of Chieftaincy Affairs in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. Mr. Sowunmi previously held the position of Director of Investments in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments, Mr. Ogunbo served as Project Manager of the Ogun State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWATSAN), Mr. Idowu-Agida was Director of Administration and Supplies in the Bureau of Government House and General Services, while Tpl. Ayodele served as Director of Urban Development in the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Saka noted that the appointments reflect the Abiodun administration’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and building a more efficient, responsive and result-oriented civil service. He added that the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries have been urged to demonstrate integrity, exemplary leadership, dedication and selfless service in line with the administration’s “Building Our Future Together” agenda.

He expressed confidence that the appointees would contribute significantly to the continued transformation of the Ogun State Civil/Public Service and support the delivery of effective governance for the benefit of residents.

The Head of Service further disclosed that Governor Abiodun is expected to officially swear in the new Permanent Secretaries on a date that will be announced later.
