In a statement released by his media team and made available to Sunday PUNCH, Dangote conveyed his appreciation to Tinubu, the Federal Government, its agencies, and all Nigerians for their belief and support in the mega project despite challenges.

During discussions with stakeholders in the oil and gas industry regarding the historic commencement of domestic refining of petroleum products, Dangote recalled the valuable support, encouragement, and thoughtful advice he received from President Tinubu towards realizing the refinery project.

President Tinubu had earlier mentioned on New Year’s Day that the FG and Nigerians eagerly anticipated the start of production at Dangote and Port Harcourt refineries, which would alleviate hardships following the fuel subsidy removal.

Dangote also extended thanks to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority for their support.

Expressing joy over the significant milestone, Dangote stated that the refinery’s production of diesel and aviation fuel would be in the market within the month, pending regulatory approvals.

The refinery, located 25 kilometers from the shore, has received six million barrels of crude oil at its two Single Point Mooring (SPM) terminals, and its truck-loading gantries can load 2,900 trucks daily.

The products will conform to Euro V specifications, and the refinery design aligns with global emission norms.

Dangote thanked bankers, financiers, the Lagos State Government under Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, host communities, traditional leaders, and staff for their crucial roles in the success of the project.
