Mr. Pedro Obi, the President of NANS, made this impassioned plea during a press briefing held in Abeokuta on Saturday.

The call for restraint comes in response to the 14-day nationwide strike notice issued by the NLC and TUC on February 8, citing the government’s failure to implement agreements reached on October 2, particularly concerning the removal of the fuel subsidy.

Expressing solidarity with fellow Nigerians amidst prevailing hardships, especially among the youth and student populace, Obi underscored NANS’ apprehensions regarding the potential exacerbation of the country’s economic woes should the planned strike proceed.

While acknowledging the unions’ rights to press demands and resort to strikes to assert their grievances, Obi implored for a reassessment of the decision’s ramifications, particularly on national security, the economy, and the academic pursuits of students nationwide.
