Botswar faced allegations of raping and subsequently killing his brother’s wife on Friday, February 2. The horrific incident unfolded after Botswar accompanied the victim to the farm, but they failed to return home.

Upon a search, the lifeless body of the woman was discovered, bearing signs of rape and machete wounds on her nape and nose. Botswar was later traced to Tse-Agberagba, the headquarters of Konshisha LGA, where his mother had remarried after her initial marriage.

Following his apprehension and confession to the rape and murder, enraged youths from the community took matters into their own hands, subjecting Botswar to vigilante justice by setting him ablaze.

A source, speaking to The Nation, revealed chilling details of the crime, stating, “The woman was Botswar’s brother’s wife. He was last seen with the woman on Friday on their way to the farm and they did not return. When the victim’s body was evacuated on Saturday, it was discovered that Botswar struck the woman with a cutlass on her head and nose, and when she fell on the ground, he took her to under a mango tree where he raped her.”

The source further explained that the mob opted not to hand the suspect over to the police due to fears that he might evade justice.

The incident underscores the visceral reactions and vigilante justice prevalent in some communities where swift action is taken against perpetrators of heinous crimes like rape and murder.
