AFCON Final: Peseiro Reacts To Mourinho’s Comments

Mourinho had expressed his support for his compatriot and the Super Eagles to emerge victorious in the 2023 AFCON during an interview with Rio Ferdinand’s ‘FIVE’ podcast.

“My closest friend in football is in the final (AFCON). The Nigerian coach is my closest friend. We grew up together, studied together, and spent five years side by side,” Mourinho had stated.

When questioned about Mourinho’s statement, Peseiro informed reporters before the commencement of the AFCON final: “Certainly, I’ve conversed with him, we’ve spoken numerous times.

“He’s my friend, a football genius. I’m delighted that he’s backing me.

“He’s a dear friend, and it’s beneficial for us.”
