Reports indicate that Ajoke, a student at Havarde College of Science, Business, and Management Studies, resorted to drinking a poisonous substance suspected to be Sniper on Monday evening, as confirmed by sources.

According to sources close to the deceased, Ajoke had been grappling with depression exacerbated by the non-accreditation of her course by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. Her distress deepened upon discovering her pregnancy, compounded by the realization that her years of study might not culminate in a recognized certification.

The provost of the institution, Dr. Ismail Oyetunji, confirmed the tragic incident, revealing that Ajoke’s boyfriend rushed her to Hope Hospital in the Adigbe area of Abeokuta, where she succumbed to the effects of the poisonous substance.

While expressing condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, Dr. Oyetunji emphasized that the circumstances leading to Ajoke’s death occurred outside the college premises. He clarified that the decision to take her life was influenced by her pregnancy, refuting any connection to the non-accreditation of the nursing program offered by the institution.
