Actress Rita Dominic Opens Up About Pause In Acting Career To Serve As London Caregiver

She disclosed:

“Many may not be aware, but around 2001/2002, I decided to step away from acting. I exited the industry and relocated to London during a particularly challenging period in my life. I encountered personal issues, experiencing a falling out with individuals I once considered as close as family. Consequently, I opted to take a hiatus from acting, feeling the need to distance myself from that environment for a while.

“So, I made the move to London, relinquishing the glamour of stardom. Surprisingly, during my time there, I engaged in work of a different nature. It’s something I’ve never openly discussed before, but while residing in London, I sought employment at a care home, where I served as a caregiver for adults with special needs. While some might perceive this as a downgrade, I hold a different perspective.

“Caring for others brought me a sense of fulfillment and purpose, especially during a time when I greatly needed it. It’s worth noting that prior to this, I had previously cared for my ailing mother and father, taking on the responsibility single-handedly.”
