The 34-year-old actress, appointed as the 2023 global artist-in-residence in Michigan, collaborated with the African Studies Center (ASC) and Department of Afro-American and African Studies (DAAS) to create educational audio-visual materials.

Hailing from Lagos, Omowunmi Dada engaged with students and educators in Southeast Michigan, imparting insights on Nollywood and African filmmaking.

Having graced the Nollywood screen for a decade, Omowunmi’s impactful performances include roles in blockbuster films such as “Ayinla” alongside Kunle Afolayan and Lateef Adedimeji, as well as Netflix’s original series “Madam Koi Koi” and Mercy Aigbe’s “Ada Omo Daddy.”

As her tenure concluded, Omowunmi shared a heartfelt video of the memorable event on her Instagram, capturing the recognition she received as an artist-in-residence and receiving a certificate of honor.

Expressing her gratitude, she wrote, “As my time at the University of Michigan comes to an end, my heart is filled with gratitude. Thank you for the unforgettable memories and the opportunity to share my Nigerian film/cultural heritage.”
