Igbo Youths Call For Nnamdi Kanu’s Release To Restore Normalcy In Southeast
In a bid to address the escalating security crisis in the Southeast region of Nigeria, the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has advocated for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)…..Promoters Of Tinubu Should Keep Off South East – Igbo Youths Send Strong Warning
According to COSEYL’s President General, Goodluck Ibem, the continuous incarceration of Kanu by the Department of State Services (DSS) has exacerbated insecurity in the region, leading to widespread hardship and economic stagnation.
In a statement released on Saturday and obtained by DAILY POST, Ibem emphasized that the Southeast has been plagued by wanton killings and economic setbacks, largely attributed to Kanu’s detention. He highlighted the impact of the sit-at-home protests, particularly on Mondays and court appearance days for Kanu, which have crippled economic activities and hindered the region’s growth.
COSEYL called upon the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Tinubu, to carefully consider the release of Nnamdi Kanu as a crucial step towards restoring peace and stability in the Southeast. Ibem stressed that Kanu’s freedom is essential for rebuilding trust and fostering healing in the region, which is currently grappling with profound socio-economic challenges.
As tensions persist and insecurity escalates in the Southeast, COSEYL’s plea underscores the urgent need for concerted efforts to address the root causes of the crisis and restore normalcy to the region. The release of Nnamdi Kanu, according to the youth coalition, represents a pivotal opportunity to initiate a process of reconciliation and dialogue aimed at fostering lasting peace and development in the Southeast.
