Police Officers Deployed For Edo Polls Killed In Tragic Accident

Five officers of the Nigeria Police Force tragically lost their lives in a fatal road accident on Tuesday along the Zaria-Kano Road. The officers had been deployed to Edo State for the recent governorship election.

According to reports gathered by Naija News, the incident occurred early Tuesday morning at Karfi Village near the Trailer Park along the Zaria-Kano Road. The spokesperson for the Kano State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), CRC Abdullahi Labaran, confirmed the details.

The crash involved two vehicles: a trailer and a Toyota Hummer Bus with the registration number 14B101KN, belonging to Kano Line. Labaran revealed that the accident, which took place at approximately 1:15 AM, involved 15 individuals. Unfortunately, five police officers lost their lives, while ten others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the FRSC suggest that the accident was caused by excessive speeding, which led the driver of the Hummer bus to lose control and collide with the stationary trailer.

The Sector Commander, ACM Ahmed Tijjani Mohammed, expressed deep condolences to the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, the Nigeria Police Force, and the families of the deceased officers. He also wished the injured a swift recovery.

Labaran urged drivers to adhere to traffic laws, warning against excessive speeding and other violations to prevent such tragedies.
