Shettima Reveals Powerful Strategy: How Public-Private Synergy Can Rescue Nigeria’s Economy

Shettima highlighted that the private sector plays a pivotal role in advancing the government’s agenda for industrialization and job creation. He made these remarks during a meeting with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) ahead of the group’s 30th Nigerian Economic Summit.

He noted that the government’s business-friendly policies and efforts to improve critical infrastructure, particularly power, are aimed at fostering an environment conducive to business success.

“Our nation is full of potential, and hope remains strong,” Shettima said, praising NESG as Nigeria’s “premier economic organization” and underscoring its power to help the country achieve its economic aspirations.

Stressing the importance of electricity in promoting industrial growth, Shettima added, “Without power, industrialization is impossible. I believe if we get it right, Nigeria will lead Africa’s development.”

He also emphasized that the current administration understands the needs of businesses, saying, “This government is led by someone who comes from your business ecosystem and speaks your language. We’ve never had a government as business-friendly as this one.”

Shettima pledged full support for private sector partnerships, describing them as crucial to economic progress, and expressed the government’s commitment to creating opportunities for young Nigerians.

Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Dr. Tope Fasua, called on NESG to transform discussions into actionable results, urging, “We cannot achieve economic development without growth. We need NESG to drive this forward and produce tangible outcomes.”
