the abduction of two individuals by a group of armed men on motorcycles, troops intervened, recovering 14 motorcycles, a locally-made pistol, and two sacks of Indian hemp left behind by the suspects.

The Army’s statement detailed how troops’ superior firepower forced the kidnappers to retreat into the bush, disrupting their activities. In a follow-up mission on November 9, troops apprehended the 12 suspects at a local bar in Mbhakyir village near Agu Centre. During questioning, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the kidnapping and identified their leader as Veior John Gata, a notorious criminal wanted for various crimes across Taraba and Benue states.
