Popular Prophetess In Custody Over Fatal Childbirth Incident In Akure

she experienced complications during delivery. Adesuwa reportedly began to bleed heavily after delivering the baby, who did not survive.

The incident came to the attention of the police after Adesuwa’s brother filed a report, prompting the prophetess’s arrest. Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed Adekola’s detention and said she has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

Odunlami stated, “The deceased’s brother reported that his sister died after childbirth in the church. The prophetess is now in custody, and investigations are ongoing.”

According to ireporteronline  , a family member recounted how Adesuwa’s husband first learned of the childbirth from a call from the church. When he and another family member arrived, they found Adesuwa critically injured.

“When we got there, we were told the baby had died during delivery, but Adesuwa was still alive, lying in a pool of blood,” the family member said. “We rushed her to a hospital, but three hospitals turned her away due to her critical state. She passed away as the last hospital attempted to revive her.”

Upon returning to the church to collect the baby’s remains, the family found the child’s body in a room described as unsuitable for delivery.

Following the report filed at the Oke-Aro Police Station, the prophetess was arrested, and Adesuwa’s body was taken to a mortuary.
