Dawisu Fires Back At Kwankwaso, Accuses Him Of Personal Motives Behind Lagos ‘Colonization’ Claims

criticism of Lagos was rooted in personal interests, rather than a genuine concern for the nation’s wellbeing.

Kwankwaso had recently criticized Lagos for allegedly receiving more support from the Federal Government than other states and accused President Tinubu of interfering in Kano State politics.

However, Dawisu took to his X account on Monday to counter Kwankwaso’s claims, reminding the public of the history between the two. He pointed out that in 2014, during the reign of Emir Ado Bayero, Kwankwaso, in alliance with the so-called “Lagos Axis,” played a pivotal role in selecting Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, despite opposition from the majority of the Kano people. Dawisu accused Kwankwaso of accepting this move in exchange for support for his own presidential ambitions in 2019.

He wrote: “It’s amusing how history is quickly forgotten. In 2014, after Emir Ado Bayero passed away, this very ‘Lagos Axis’ came to Kano, met with you as the sitting governor, and lobbied for Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to become Emir—against the wishes of most Kanawa, just to spite President Jonathan. You agreed because they promised to back your 2019 presidential bid.”
