in the diaspora not to move to Nigeria.
As reported by ireporteronline, Davido recently cautioned black Americans against relocating to Africa, especially amidst the growing trend of people considering a return to the continent.
During an interview on The Big Homies House podcast, the singer expressed concern about the situation in Nigeria, citing the country’s ongoing economic challenges. Reflecting on his upbringing in Nigeria after being born in Atlanta, Georgia, Davido stated, “It’s not cool back home… The economy now is in shambles.”
His comments sparked online backlash, with some Nigerians accusing him of potentially deterring foreign investors from coming to the country.
In response, Paul Okoye took to his Instagram page to defend the singer, calling out Davido’s critics as “mad people.” The music executive argued that Davido was simply speaking the truth, emphasizing that Nigeria’s economic struggles are evident, with global companies exiting and local businesses facing major losses. He concluded, “Let’s acknowledge the reality and work towards a better future. God bless Nigeria.”
