Sources revealed that the two leaders recently met to discuss the possibility of launching a fresh political platform. They are set to reconvene in Yola, Adamawa State, on November 30, where Obi will deliver a keynote address at Atiku’s 78th birthday celebration at the American University of Nigeria (AUN), owned by Atiku.

The event is seen as a demonstration of their continued camaraderie amid reports of collaboration. According to The Africa Report, a spokesperson for both leaders confirmed ongoing discussions regarding a potential political merger but withheld specific details.

Since their loss to President Bola Tinubu in 2023, Atiku and Obi have explored collaborative strategies, motivated by internal challenges within their parties.

The PDP faces persistent internal disputes, particularly involving its national chairman, Umar Damagum, an ally of Nyesom Wike, who has opposed Atiku and aligned with Tinubu. Similarly, the Labour Party is grappling with internal tensions as Obi’s relationship with party chairman Julius Abure has deteriorated.

Reports suggest that former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai is also involved in the discussions, hinting at a possible significant political realignment as preparations for the 2027 elections draw nearer.
