A statement from the NCS National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, revealed that Balogun hails from Odo-Otin Local Government Area in Osun State, although born in Kaduna. She joined the NCS in 2002 as a customs assistant.

Balogun’s journey in the service saw her initially working as a cabin crew member in the air wing unit before she pursued her ambition to become a licensed pilot. Through sheer determination and perseverance, she transitioned from the cabin crew to the cockpit, defying the odds of a male-dominated field.

Her dedication to public service was evident when she chose to serve her country rather than take up lucrative airline offers. “It was a tough decision, but I wanted to contribute to public service and fulfill my dream of becoming a pilot,” she said.

Balogun’s career is marked by notable accomplishments, including an advanced diploma in Air Ticketing and Cabin Services, a master’s degree in Public Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, and her pilot certification from the Flying Academy in Miami, Florida, all sponsored by the NCS.

Reflecting on her achievement, she said, “Becoming the first female pilot in the NCS Air Wing is not just a personal milestone; it’s a testament to my commitment to both my dreams and to advancing the operational capabilities of the NCS.” Balogun also encouraged young Nigerians, especially women, to pursue their aspirations with tenacity and resilience.

Her historic feat stands as a source of inspiration for women in the service and beyond, illustrating the power of perseverance in breaking barriers.
