Brave Police Rescue 10, But Two Lives Lost

The Katsina State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement to the press, with spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sadiq reporting that police operatives managed to rescue at least ten people who were targeted by the assailants.

Sadiq noted that four of the rescued individuals suffered gunshot wounds during the encounter with the bandits and were immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment. Unfortunately, two of the victims later passed away from their injuries. The police are actively pursuing the fleeing suspects as the investigation progresses.

According to reports, armed bandits launched an attack on a commercial vehicle at Kwanar Makera along the Katsina to Magama Jibia road around 8:30 PM on December 24, 2024, with the aim of abducting the ten passengers. Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer for Jibia swiftly assembled a team, engaging the bandits in a shootout that ultimately disrupted the kidnapping attempt and secured the safety of all ten victims.

Katsina State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their swift action and urged them to remain vigilant. He also encouraged the public to report any information about suspected criminal activities to the nearest police station for prompt response.
