In a powerful New Year message, Nweke expressed his concern over the increasing reliance on charity to combat hunger and economic hardship in the country. He emphasized that while the spirit of generosity is valuable, it cannot solve the systemic issues of poverty and inequality that many Nigerians face.

“This year has been especially painful, with the economy sinking and widespread hunger even affecting the most hardworking individuals. Politicians who misuse public funds to display wealth will not be shielded from the crisis caused by poverty,” he warned.

The former APGA governorship candidate in Enugu State called on both federal and state governments to prioritize policies that directly address poverty and inequality. Nweke stressed the need for sustainable solutions that would empower the nation’s citizens and create lasting economic improvements.

“Governments must reassess their governance approaches, ensuring that people-centric policies are at the forefront to alleviate poverty, reduce inequality, and tackle economic stagnation,” he concluded.
