to discuss strategies for accelerating development.
Okpebholo, in his conversation with Uzodinma, emphasized the importance of fostering friendly competition among state governors as a means of addressing the country’s developmental challenges. He stressed that governors must look beyond their own states to learn from one another, adopt innovative strategies, and create even greater progress.
Reflecting on his own approach to governance, Okpebholo shared that his travels to other states have inspired him to take a hands-on approach to improvement in Edo. “Seeing firsthand the massive infrastructure and coordination in other states helps me see governance in a whole new light,” he noted. He added, “My goal is to turn Edo into a state that, when I leave office, will be a shining example of development in Africa.”
During the visit, Governor Okpebholo praised Uzodinma for the remarkable transformation of Imo State, calling it nearly unrecognizable. He applauded the governor’s initiatives and expressed his intent to follow this example in Edo, setting new standards for development in the state.
“The changes in Imo are inspiring. I’m committed to replicating these successful strategies in Edo, but I aim to exceed them, setting a new benchmark for development,” Okpebholo said. He assured that, when Uzodinma revisits Edo, the state will be dramatically transformed, with visible improvements in infrastructure and governance.
In return, Senator Uzodinma congratulated Okpebholo on his vision and expressed confidence that such collaborative efforts between governors would foster even more positive changes across the nation. He encouraged Okpebholo to continue leading by example, ensuring the success of Edo’s people and the entire region.
The collaboration between the two leaders highlights the growing momentum among state governors to exchange ideas and create positive competition for the development of Nigeria.
