The incident occurred on Monday, January 6, 2025. Adenike Okunlaya, who also teaches at the school in the Nursery Two class, discovered the distressing video after hearing the teacher instruct her son to “write six.” Upon viewing the footage, she immediately forwarded it to a friend, which led to its eventual circulation.

Prior Concerns of Abuse

Okunlaya revealed that her son frequently complained about the teacher’s harsh treatment, though she initially dismissed it as typical disciplinary actions. However, seeing the video changed everything. Despite her immediate concern, she chose not to confront the teacher directly but sought intervention through her pastor, leading to an official complaint being lodged with the school’s management.

School’s Response and Media Attention

The school management expressed deep regret over the incident and swiftly dismissed the teacher after the viral video surfaced. Okunlaya’s phone was temporarily seized by the school to manage the overwhelming number of calls and messages from the public.

Impact on Her Son’s Health

The assault resulted in medical attention for her son at Ikorodu General Hospital, where doctors found ear damage. Medical reports have been submitted to support her case at the Owutu Police Station. Okunlaya remains resolute in seeking justice for her son, who is also her only child.
