individuals arrested are Rabiu Abdullahi, Sanusi Mohammed Yaro, Ibrahim M. Kofar Soro, Ibrahim Aliyu, and Nura Lawal Kofar Sauri, who were taken into custody last Saturday, January 11.

The EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed their arrest in Abuja on Monday, noting that the total amount allegedly misappropriated by the suspects is ₦1,294,337,676.53.

According to Oyewale, the arrests followed a petition from the Katsina state government, accusing the officials of colluding to misappropriate the funds.

He further explained that the funds, intended for the state government, were sourced from international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), Médecins Sans Frontières, and the Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA).

Investigations revealed that Rabiu Abdullahi, a former Director of Collections and current Permanent Secretary of the Board, authorized the opening of a bank account named ‘BOIRS’ at Sterling Bank, with Sanusi Mohammed Yaro and Ibrahim M. Kofar Soro as sole signatories.

The account allegedly became the primary channel for funneling the funds to NADIKKO General Suppliers, a company owned by Nura Lawal Kofar Sauri, an Assistant Director of Career Skills/Staff Welfare of the Board.

Investigation further traced the laundered funds to various bank accounts linked to the suspects.

The EFCC spokesman stated that the suspects are currently detained at the Kano Zonal Command and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
