General in charge of Border Patrol at Force Headquarters in Abuja, steps into this role following the retirement of DIG Sylvester Alabi, who held the position in the Force Criminal Investigation Department until December 31, 2024.

In a statement released today, Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, made the announcement, adding that the PSC Chairman, Hashimu Argungu, congratulated Lawal on his promotion and emphasized the importance of his contribution to the Police Management Team.

Lawal, who was recently examined in a plenary session by the Commission, praised the Nigeria Police Force’s Community Policing programme, calling it a “successful and impactful” initiative. His extensive career in law enforcement includes roles as Commandant at the Police Training College in Ikeja, Lagos, and as Assistant Commissioner in several states, including Ekiti, Abia, and Edo. Lawal also held various strategic positions, including Deputy Commissioner of Operations in multiple states and Deputy Commandant at the Police Academy in Kano.

With his vast experience and proven leadership, Lawal is expected to make an indelible impact on the Police Force, ensuring continued growth and unity.
