Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq approved the recruitment initiative proposed by the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), focusing on addressing staffing shortages, particularly in rural schools.

According to TESCOM Chairman Bello Abubakar, the process will prioritize candidates with qualifications in critical subject areas.

“All applications must be submitted online, and the minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related fields with a teaching certification such as B.Ed, B.Sc. Ed, B.A. Ed, or NCE,” Abubakar explained in a statement released by the TESCOM Press Secretary, Sam Onile.

He further emphasized that the recruitment aims to resolve teacher deficits in hinterlands, with particular attention to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), as well as subjects in Arts and Commerce.

Applicants will undergo a multi-stage process, including online applications, a computer-based test (CBT), interviews, and peer teaching practicums. Successful candidates will also be required to pass a drug test as part of the government’s efforts to combat drug abuse and safeguard students.

“Candidates must upload their local government origin certificates and indicate their residency. The age limit is set at 35 years as of January 31, 2025, and any behavior deemed unbefitting of a teacher will result in disqualification,” Abubakar added.

He praised Governor Abdulrazaq’s commitment to revamping public education, citing significant investments and clear policies since 2019.
